Magnetic Scrolls' Wonderland

Postby Gnome on Sun Jan 25, 2009 11:32 pm

Ah, yes, Wonderland. A lovely adventure game, in a lovely box, sadly spread over tons of 5,25" disks. Which, well, bring us to the problem. Obviously installing the game off the discs is out of question as my properly floppy drive has been out of order for ages. On the other hand, most -almost legal- abandonware downloads only come with copies of the same disk files or seem to ignore the game altogether.

Seems the only way to play it is via the specialized Magnetic emulator and its Wonderland interpreter files, but then quite a few of the original game features won't be available.

So, the question is, does anyone have any idea on how to actually get to run the game the way it was meant to be played on XP? Eh?

Cheers!
I got meself a lovely gaming Lair filled with Retro Treasures, Cabaret memorabilia and SMSs. Old issues of Retroaction lie around the place.

5.25" disks, interpreter files; all sounds very scary to me. :? Good luck...

I take it 5.25" Floppy Drives are rare these days. Boy, that brings back memories, painful ones. 5.25" Disk to 3.5" disk transfer would probably be quite expensive as well. Sorry, I can't be of more help.

Ok, I finally managed to pull it off, though admittedly in the fiddliest of ways. If anyone is interested, simple install each disk via DosBOX and you should be fine.

Well done, and another good use of DOSBox. What a great piece of software.
